Join Instructor Callan Shore to learn how to carve a spoon out of wood using only hand tools (no power tools). You will start with a piece of green wood (called a billet) and by the end of the class you will have transformed it into a functional eating spoon. We will start by talking about wood grain and which trees are best for making spoons, as well as how to use carving tools safely. Then we will use a type of knife called a sloyd knife to carve the shape of our spoons! At the end, we will talk about decorative techniques and maybe even try some on our spoons if there is time. This class is only being offered on September 7th, but further dates may open in the future.
