Had a fun morning surfing with Kesia and Wayan. The wave at kedungu is wonderful, it is an easy paddle out, a great community (most of whom Kesia knows!) and a fun spot to surf. Wayan is one of the best instructors I have had, amazing at reading the waves, gives really helpful instructions and his english is excellent. Nice to have Kesia in the water as a cheer leader and if you’re traveling on your own and want to build confidence in the water it is a great experience. The video analysis afterwards was very helpful to watch and really improved my surfing the next time I went in the water. The best thing about the wave at Kedungu a lot less crowded than other popular spots in Kuta / Canngu, and only half an hour away. Little Ripper up the road is amazing for coffee and a little further into the town is Warung Kelapa where Rae makes his grandmothers traditional Balinese recipes. It really is the best spot in town for lunch!

I had a really fun and memorable day with Kasia at Kedungu Beach. She has such an outgoing, welcoming energy and clearly knows the local scene well — she introduced me to one of the local surf instructors, Wayan, who handled most of the coaching, set me up with a soft-top board, and even made sure a videographer captured some of my waves so I could purchase the footage afterward. We started with coffee while waiting for the tide and had a beautiful conversation about the ocean as a tool for reflection and self-connection, which really resonated with me. Once we got on the water, Kasia was a bit more in the background, friendly and encouraging, while Wayan helped me navigate the waves. The whole morning had a relaxed, local feel — fresh coconuts afterward, chatting, reviewing footage — and was a lovely way to get introduced to Kedungu Beach and its surf culture, especially if you’re looking for an easygoing surf day with some personal touches. I definitely left feeling reset and ready to take on the next wave!
